Controversial Top APC Senator Moves To Take Over From Ekweremadu, As Deputy Senate President

The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ovie Omo-Agege, has said that he is the most qualified Candidate for the Office of the Deputy Senate President, in the 9th Senate.

Omo-Agege, who is currently participating in a two-week induction programme, organised by the National Assembly management for Members and Senators-elect, at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, said that he will soon declare for the position, following calls and pressure from his colleagues.

He revealed that the position of the DSP, has been zoned to the South-South by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, which constitutes majority in the Senate.

The Lawmaker, who was visibly seen lobbying colleagues at the event, maintained that with his position, he will fairly ensure that all Nigerians, irrespective of where they come from, partake in the envisaged change

Information obtained on Tuesday, from the Secretariat of his Campaign Organisation, at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, quoted Omo-Agege as saying that, “the Senate would partner with the Executive, to speedily move our country to the next level, and deliver the people.”

He added: “There is no doubt that our nation faces huge problems of insecurity, unemployment, infrastructural deficit, and corruption.

“The men and women of the 9th Senate are up to this challenge, provided we remain committed to working for the good of the people.”

The Lawmaker, pointed out that he is prepared to work with everyone in the 9th Senate, as a confidant and partner, adding that, the Upper Chamber will serve the people better in the discharge of its duties, in check and balances, without antagonising with the Executive, while maintaining its independence.
