Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, has visited President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.
Okorocha said that “as it stands today, I am just waiting patiently for the release of my Certificate of Return, on the election that I won”.
“I have not contravened any section of the Constitution, I have not done anything not to be giving my Certificate, and I pray INEC will do just what is right.”
He added: “INEC conducted this election, results were declared, the Returning Officer declared the results, and I won. Only one week later, somebody wrote a petition that the he issued the results under duress. The question is where?
“Was it his private house? Or is it the Collation Centre? If it is the Collation Centre, SSS were there, Police were there, the International Observers, INEC Officials, EO, were there.
“Who actually put him under duress; the man has not been able to say that…”
Recall, that the Imo State Governor who contested the National Assembly election, on February 23, to represent Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu zone), was declared winner of the election, but the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer, who declared him winner, later said that he did that under duress.
The development made the INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, to withhold his Certificate of Return.
Elsewhere, Okorocha has been having issues with the Leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for his alleged anti-party activities, during the Governorship election.
He was accused to have worked for the Action Alliance, AA, Candidate, Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law, who lost to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, against his party, the APC.
