The former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has said that he is being targeted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, ahead of the general elections.
He stated that the Agency is after him and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over “election money”.
Fayose raised this alarm via his Twitter account, on Thursday night.
The tweets read: “Just heard that some Officials of @officialEFCC are in Ekiti, to invade my residence in Afao Ekiti, early morning tomorrow (Friday).
“They are coming to search my house for @atiku election money. @officialEFCC, I am here and waiting.”
Earlier, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, had raised an alarm of cash for votes, in circulation.
The party claimed that the PDP had ordered the distribution of money across the country.
A statement by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said: “We caution Nigerians and all involved in the Electoral process, not to be influenced by the huge money the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is moving around to buy votes and compromise the system.
“Our future should not be mortgaged to the Leaders of the PDP, who are using our commonwealth they stole over 16 years, to seek a return to power.”
