BREAKING: Lagos State On Fire, As Lawmakers Move To Impeach Governor Ambode, With Immediate Effect

BREAKING: Ambode sacks finance, transport, tourism ...

The Lagos State House of Assembly, has begun a debate to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The Assembly alleged that the Governor was spending money which had not been appropriated by the Legislative arm of government.

Recall, that Ambode had come under heat in recent times, over allegations that he was secretly funding the campaign of the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Jimi Agbaje.

Some threats were made against the Governor, in October, last year, after the Governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which Ambode lost to Babajide Sanwoolu, the preferred Candidate of the APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu

It was alleged by some Chieftains of the APC, that Ambode was aggrieved by the outcome of the primary, and that funds were being diverted through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to fund Agbaje’s 2019 campaign.

The Governor, however, pledged his loyalty to the party, denying allegations of treachery.

Ambode broke with tradition last year, when he failed to present the State’s budget before the entire House of Assembly.

The State Government had claimed that the budget was privately submitted to the House, a report which many of the Lawmakers have since denied.

Ambode was also accused of moving against the APC’s attempt to make a former Chief Security Officer to Tinubu, Kayode Egbetokun, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, and insisting that his secondary school classmate, Imohimi Edgal, remains the CP.
