JUST IN: Big Shame As APC Members Dump Godswill Akpabio, Refuse To Support The Former PDP Senator

Senator Godswill Akpabio, on Sunday, tongue lashed the Akwa Ibom State All Progressives Congress, APC, State Chairman, Mr. Ini Okopido, accusing him of gross incompetence, insensitivity, and disrespect, for failing to place a birthday message in any national newspaper, as the former Governor clocks 56 years old.

Embarrassed by the almost lack of goodwill message from the APC, as was the case in the recent past, Akpabio wondered why the State Chapter of the APC will find it difficult to place at least a one page advert to commemorate him on his birthday.

It was learnt that the 2018 birthday celebration of Akpabio witnessed only about four adverts in national newspapers, which were from his wife, his former Chief of Staff, Sir Etekamba Umoren, Barr. Dennis Akpan, and one from his friend.

“Akpabio is blaming Okopido for not seeing any goodwill message from the party. His anger is very strange, because the tone at which he spoke to the party Chairman on phone was so derogatory and furious”, said a source.

“The former Governor is angry that all his efforts at helping the party win 2019, has not been reciprocated. He feels insulted that on a memorable day like his birthday, he got goodwill messages from his “opponents” and former boys in the PDP, but the APC did not deem it fit to congratulate him.”

Reacting to a rampaging Akpabio, a rattled Okopido exenorated himself from the crisis, blaming the non publication of Akpabio’s birthday message on lack of funds and sponsorship from the APC Governorship Candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere, lamenting that the party lacks funds to undertake such expenditure, without external help.

“There was no way the party could have had the funds to undertake such a venture without sponsorship. But the good news is that Akpabio himself has promised to fund the advertisements, so we should expect goodwill messages on his birthday being published by some national newspapers from Monday or Tuesday, this week. He (Akpabio) has pledged to make money available to Okopido for this”, he said.
