Senator Hope Uzodimma’s name has been pasted as the Governorship Candidate of the Imo State All Progressives Congress, APC, by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The name of Uzodimma, was pasted at the INEC Office, along Port Harcourt Road, in Owerri, the Imo State capital, with Akaolisa Cyprain Okechukwu, as his running mate.
Uzodimma’s name was displayed as the authentic Governorship flag-bearer of the APC in Imo state.
This is coming after several hours when INEC pasted other Governorship Candidates names of various political parties, excluding that of the APC, for Imo State.
A source said: “Immediately, the court struck out the order by the Okorocha faction, stopping the name of Senator Uzodimma from publishing as the Candidate of the party.
“The judgement was taken to the National Headquarters of INEC, and an order was given that the name of Hope should be pasted immediately.
“When the order came to INEC, in Owerri, the Administrative Head was not on sit, but the Legal Adviser received the order from the National Headquarters, and he went on.
“They have just acted not as in their own power, but according to the power of the court.”
It should be recalled, that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has been at loggerheads with the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, over who should be the authentic Governorship Candidate of the party in the State. While Oshiomhole submitted the name of Hope Uzodimma as the Candidate, To INEC, Rochas Okorocha on the other hand, declared his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, as the authentic Governorship Candidate.
Reacting, some Political Analysts are of the opinion that with this latest public humiliation of Governor Rochas Okorocha, he may be left with no other option, but to defect from the APC, even though he stated earlier that he would not defect; coupled with the fact that he has been technically abandoned by President Muhammadu Buhari, concerning this matter.
